The Prince's Trust
Coming from an artistic upbringing it was inevitable I would find myself working in a creative environment. Before setting up my own design label I spent almost a decade working for some of London's most regarded fashion houses where I gained invaluable knowledge and experience and developed a strong understanding of working in the fashion industry. However, like many under 30's I had never actually run my own business before.
In 2014 I decided to approach the Prince's Trust and applied to their Enterprise Program giving access to business support and a business mentor. With some careful planning and a lot of hard work I set about learning how to turn my young business into a sustainable one.
Over the course of the year I worked hard putting together my business plan and researching my strategy whilst working full time on the business day to day. Despite my huge efforts and detailed business plan I was however told I was 'unsuccessful'. Being somewhat surprised, but not one to give up that easily I continued to rework my strategy and drew up a new and improved business plan. A short while later I was back in front of the 'launch panel' and was successfully accepted onto the Prince's Trust Enterprise Program.
Over the last few years I have faced many challenges of a running a small professional business. Having the aspirations of my previous companies but without the established company to back me up means working even harder to prove myself - but it has been a challenge I've embraced having met so many determined individuals at the Prince's Trust.

Lambeth Palace Garden Party
This summer PIPÉT Design was proudly selected to take part in this year's Lambeth Palace Summer Fayre along with just 30 other businesses supported by the trust.
Just a stone's throw away from where I live in Lambeth, the fayre was set in the beautiful grounds of Lambeth Palace, home to the Archbishop of Canterbury and his family. With just a few hours a head of us, we set up our shop for what was to be a celebratory evening for all the inspiring individuals who have gone through many walks of life and succeeded.
My oldest school friend and fellow Entrepreneur Joe Richards of Good Party Co. Part of his business is Share the Party - Donating a portion of his profits to helping those in need have a good time too!

It was a pleasure to be with the other young entrepreneurs and a fantastic opportunity to talk about what drives our businesses, share the inspiration behind our products, and of course put into practice what we have learnt over the last two years.
I'd like to say a big 'thank you' to the many supporters of the Prince's Trust who attended the event - especially to all the volunteers, staff and mentors that make up part of the Prince's Trust everyday!
